Jim Lovejoy made the short trip from Torrance to get in some casts. He didn't get to many in before we was hooked up. Let me tell you, Jim is just getting warmed up.

The bite continued to pickup steam as more and more cries of "Hook-Up" and "Fresh One" could be heard around the boat. I grabbed my bait stick, pinned a live squid onto a 2/0 hook and tossed it out. It wasn't long before I got pick up and laid into a nice 'tail.

Mario didn't waste much time getting another squid in the water and it wasn't long before he was on again.

The strong bite kept rolling right along with mutliple hookups common. Chris Argubright made the trip from Vegas and he put his money down on the Thunderbird. Good thing because his number was coming up big.

There was no way Steve Gallegos was going to let father Vince steal all the family glory. You could tell, this guy has been fishing before. He knew just what to do when he got his chance. Steven laid into this one like a pro and followed him around the corner when it made a run and boy did it run.

Steven stuck with this hard fighter for the duration and when he got it to the side of the boat Captain Bob was ready with the gaff. Better watch out Vince, Steven is starting to get warmed up.

The bite was going so strong I'm not sure how things could've gotten any better. Than Rick showed me that things can always get better. Nicer grade fish moved into the area and we were more than ready to tango with these big boys. Rick hooked up big time and put the hurting on this nicer grade yellow.

I could tell the brothers were keeping an eye on each other so I wasn't suprised when Mike hooked a nice one.

Mikes' yellowtail battled like a big boy but when Danny brought it over the rail and I got a good look at it I had to give this round to Rick. Don't worry were oldschool here, no 12 or 15 round limit here. Were going no holds barred till someones down and out.

Carly Kemp made the trip from Murietta to fish on the Thunderbird. She knows how to handle a fishing rod and was ready when a nice yellow came around. These were nicer grade fish and didn't give in without a serious fight. Way to go Carly. Stick with it.

Carly never let this one off the hook for a second and her hard work paid off. Captain Bob was there and after a long hard fight he did a great job gaffing Carly's fish

Jim had his gear working in tip-top shape because thats' what it takes to land big homeguard yellows like this. In one of the tougest battles of the day Jim outlasted this huge mossback and earned high fives from everyone on board. Way to go Jim.

The action never let up. We hooked yellows from daybreak to about 12 noon or so never going more than a few minutes between hookups. What a day. We were putting a serious hurting on the yellows with about a 100 or so nicer grade fish on board. We had all we needed so we decided to give these boys a break and try for something else. We fished a few spots on the front side for a few bass and bonita and always ended up hooking a yellow. I was on the back with Mario when the Captain decided to call it a day. Mario gets bit a hooks a yellow as the crew is pulling up the anchor. Just goes to show what a day it was.
