Julie Smith of Claremont won first place for a 51-pound yellowtail. Tom Carlisle of Rolling Hills Estates won second place for a 46-pound yellowtail and Abe Cohen of LA was third, for a 42-pound yellowtail.

Ten-year-old Dylan Haste of Palm Desert goes to Carter Elementary School, and posed with a nice 20-pound class yellowtail.

Ron Stacyk won first place for a 31.5-pound yellowtail. Tom Ferris was second, for a 31-pounder. The third place angler stood in for a photo, but didn???t leave his name or the weight of the fish.

Greg Zakharin of Santa Monica won first place, for a 30.6-pound yellowtail. Jim Vreeland of Solvang won second place for a 30.1-pound yellowtail, and John Owen of Ventura won third place for a 30-pound yellow

We woke up at daybreak to absolutely ideal conditions. Flat calm seas, no wind and a great sunrise. It wasn't long before the first kelp paddy of the day was spotted. Not seconds after the first sardines hit the water cries of "Hook up" and "Fish on" echoed throughout the boat. It didn't take Kyle Sanna of Chula Vista very long to hook and land his first ever Yellowtail. Way to go Kyle

Dan Kennedy from Long Beach got into the action early as well.
