It wasn't long before we spotted the first paddy of the day and I was ready. My baitstick of choice for the day was a Seeker 8 1/2' Inshore Series Rod outfitted with a Shimano Torium Reel filled with 30 lb Trilene Big Game line and topped with a 6-7 foot Seaguar 30 lb fluorocarbon leader and Mustad 2/0 hook. This set up has been producing for me big time this year and it produced again this time. I farmed my first bite but got picked up again and layed into this nice little yellow. After a short hard battle the first yellow of the day was in the boat.

We were unable to land any baitfish after Scott's nice hookup so me moved on. The crew spotted a paddy so we pulled in the trolling rigs and got the baitsticks ready. Bob "Big Pappi" Pulfer from Bullhead City Arizona grabbed the liveliest sardine from the tank that he could find and tossed it out. A few moments later he was BENDO !!!. We were starting to have problems with some of the baits so it was crucial that you only picked the strongest and healtiest baits from the wells. Avoiding the baits with bloodied noses, blood spots on them, or ones that weren't swimming strong was critical to getting bit.

When Bob's fish didn't go airborne right after getting hooked we figured it was a yellowtail. Bob had to battle this nice yellowtail for a while before getting into the boat. Good job "Pappi"

Charles "Chuckie" Martin was part of the group from Bullhead City Arizona, and he hooked and landed this nice mossback yellow of a fresh sardine. Frank Ferrer was ready with the gaff and knew what to do with it when the yellow was up to the side. The crew did an awesome job keeping things together when things got going.

Diane dragged her husband Randy along on the trip and ended up giving the entire boat couple of pointers on how to catch nice fish. She nicely demonstrated how to hook up and ended up landing this nice yellow. Good Job Diane !!

You gotta get 'em when you can because you never know if you're gonna get 'em again. When you finally find a group of fish willing to bite it can be fast and furious action. You needed to be ready for them. I landed 3 yellowtail and a dorado in about 15 minutes in what turned out to be the best action of the day. Charles was ready as well and he landed a couple of fish, including this nice yellow.

Daniel "Who Needs Sardines Anyway" Yonemori from Huntington Beach was firing the iron up on the bow when he hooked and landed this nice yellow. This guy threw irons and plastics all day and the only time he walked back to the baittank was to throw another yellow or dodo into the sacks. He used various irons and plastics to land 4-5 yellows and a dorado throughout the day. Theres' nothing like getting bit on the iron! Good Job Daniel !

We finally found a nice paddy and eagely threw some baits at it. Jeff Pulfer from Bullhead City was the first one to get bit. This was a nicer grade fish as well. Despite a constant barrage of heckling from the crowd Jeff kept his concentration and stayed with him. Steady pressure is the name of the game with these bigboys.

Bill takes it again. Bill's big yellow just beat out Jeff's yellow to take the jackpot for the second straight day. Hand that guy some deposit slips because he's gonna need to make a run to the bank after this trip. Way to go Bill.
