Rick Pradin

We were off the docks at 9 pm sharp with a super light load of 13 anglers. With reports of squid floating on the backside of Catlina and lots of yellowtail around I was confident captain/owner Bob Yoshihiro and his crew on the Thunderbird would get us on the spot. We headed straight to the backside, anchored up and set out the squid lights. Before long we had a full tank of fresh squirters and just needed to wait for a little gray light to get the party started. We didn't have to wait long. As soon as the first rays of light started filtering through the mist things started rolling. Rick Pradin from Los Angeles was one of the first ones to get bit and by the way this one was pulling we knew it was the right kind.

When the first couple of hookups turned out to be yellowtail we knew Captain Bob had put us on the right spot. Vince Gallegos from East LA brought his boy Steven along for a little Father vs.Son showdown on the Thunderbird. Vince struck first. Hooking and landing his first yellow of the day.

Father vs. Son wasn't the only battle being fought on this boat. The Pradin brothers started dueling from the very beginning and you could tell this one has been brewing for a while. You clould from the beginning that this battle was gonna go down to the wire, that's for sure. Mike Pradin from Riverside got his morning started off right with this nice yellow.
